The Sun: Purpose and Vitality
At the centre of every chart, the Sun speaks of the self we are invited to become.
In astrology the Sun is the heart of the chart. Its sign describes our core purpose, our vitality and the self we are growing into, which is why it is the sign most people know as “their” sign.
The light we are learning to shine
The Sun is not who we already are so much as who we are becoming. A Sun in Cancer, for example, may spend a lifetime learning to care well, for others and for itself. Its gifts unfold through living, not all at once.
Mentalism and the conscious self
The Sun corresponds to the conscious, choosing mind: the part of us that decides. Through the Principle of Mentalism, it reminds us that our sense of purpose is something we can choose and strengthen each day.
Sunday
Sunday has belonged to the Sun since antiquity. It is a natural day to rest, to remember why we do what we do, and to let a little more light into our lives.
A practice
Ask yourself: “What would it look like to shine a little more fully today?” Choose one small way, perhaps a kindness, a creative act or simply stepping outside into daylight, and do it.
