The Gratitude Practice
A few minutes of noticing what is good can change the tone of a whole day.
Gratitude is one of the simplest practices there is, and one of the most quietly powerful. Taking a moment each day to notice what we are thankful for gently shifts where our attention rests.
Why it helps
Our minds tend to notice problems more readily than blessings. Gratitude rebalances the scales. Over time, we begin to see more of what is already good, and that changes how we meet everything else.
Vibration
Through the Principle of Vibration, gratitude is a way of raising our state. It is very hard to feel both grateful and resentful in the same moment.
Specific, not general
Gratitude works best when it is specific: not “my family”, but “the way my sister laughed on the phone this morning”. Specific gratitude brings the feeling back.
A practice
Each evening this week, write three specific things you are grateful for. Our members’ journal has a space for exactly this. Notice how your week feels by Sunday.
