Fire: Will, Warmth and Inspiration
Fire is the spark that begins things, and the warmth that keeps us going.
Fire is the element of will, inspiration and vitality. In astrology it belongs to Aries, Leo and Sagittarius; in the tarot, to the suit of Wands. Aristotle described it as hot and dry.
What fire gives
Fire gives courage, enthusiasm and purpose. It lights the way and transforms whatever it touches, which is why the alchemists placed it at the heart of their work.
Aries, the first flame
Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, is cardinal fire: the spark of every beginning. Leo is fixed fire, steady warmth. Sagittarius is mutable fire, the restless search for meaning.
Too little, too much
With too little fire, we lose heart and struggle to begin. With too much, we rush, push and burn out. Balance means a steady flame rather than a blaze.
