Mercury: The Mind and the Message
The messenger planet speaks of how we think, learn and connect through words.
Mercury is the planet of thought, speech, learning and travel. Named after the Roman messenger god, the Greek Hermes, it shares its name with Hermes Trismegistus, the legendary sage of the Hermetic teachings.
How we think and speak
Mercury’s sign describes the style of our mind. In Virgo it may be precise and careful; in Sagittarius, broad and enthusiastic; in Pisces, poetic and intuitive. None is better than another. Each is a way of knowing.
Retrograde
Three or four times a year, Mercury appears to move backwards in the sky for about three weeks. Rather than fearing it, we can use these seasons to review, re-read and reconnect before moving ahead.
Wednesday
Wednesday belongs to Mercury, a good day for learning, writing and clear, kind words.
A practice
Notice your inner voice today. Is it kind, curious, critical? Choose one thought you would like to speak to yourself more often, and practise it.
